Special Olympics research overview (z.j.)

Organisatie(s): Special Olympics

For the past 15 years, Special Olympics’ research and evaluation work has focused on a range of topics, including the attitudes the general public has towards people with intellectual disabilities, the perception of their capabilities, barriers to employment and community inclusion, health status and access to quality health care, and the impact of Special Olympics’ programming. Research and evaluation has advanced our knowledge of the cultural and environmental factors that are obstacles to people with intellectual disabilities living more fulfilling lives that reflect dignity, equity and opportunity.

This research overview document is designed to help Special Olympics programs share the impact of their programming in communities, encourage others to engage in the Special Olympics movement, secure partnerships, strengthen presentations to major donors, inform legislative bodies around the world, and create evidence-based programming. Additionally, this document aims to encourage and prepare Programs to conduct their own research and evaluation.
